Choose one of the classes below for each 2-week session:

K-1 Early Literacy Support (early reading skills instruction) In partnership with the Washington Reading Corp, students will take part in a defined early literacy program [Reading Power] to both make-up for school loss and prepare them for learning in the fall.

Grades K-2 & 3-5 Project-Based Learning (enrichment, multi-disciplinary learning)

Students will work on a project over a two-week period that engages them in solving a real-world problem or answering a complex question. They will demonstrate their knowledge and skills by creating a public product or presentation for a real audience.

K-5 Language Lab (language support for English language learners)

Language lab is a breakthrough language and literacy program that combines innovative lessons with an engaging and interactive summer camp approach. Students will make language, reading, writing and social emotional gains that they’ll carry back to school in the fall.

Grades 2-4 Power Scholars* (reading and math)

Power Scholars Academy is a partnership between the YMCA and the national non-profit BellXcel (Building Educated Leaders for Life). This four-week summer program is designed to not only tackle summer learning loss in math and reading, but to also foster physical and social emotional growth. *Power Scholars class goes from 7:30 a.m.– 1 p.m.

Grades 2-5 STEM Camp (science and math)

STEM Camp offers project-based hands-on learning activities. STEM Projects are anchored in a natural or designed phenomenon. Students will engage in sense-making as they model out and complete projects that address their questions. The projects are both individual and group-based and often call students to construct and test a scientific concept. Your child will also enjoy learning about STEM-related careers!

Grades 2-5 Social Emotional Community Circles (Social Emotional Learning)

Students will spend time each day with activities that acknowledge and celebrate each other, explore and share ideas, offer encouragement or address problems. Through various activities, students will be provided regular opportunities to develop empathy, practice respect for others, encourage mindful listening, and share appreciations and feelings of acceptance or loneliness.

Grade 5 Intro to Middle School Math (math support to become eligible for 6th grade math honors)

This class provides time and support with the online Freckle math program. Success in this program may make students eligible for 6th Grade Math Honors.
