Principal Message

Evergreen Principal Diana Dix

I hope this finds you and your family well. Thank you Evergreen community and students for joining us as we begin our year learning new ways of moving around on campus and in the classroom.  I am so excited to welcome students back to school each day! I am very grateful for families who reached out and reminded us that it was time to restart the student pick-up tags – it is nice to see the system running better each day. Thank you to families who are being mindful when driving as we navigate cars, kids and bikes. Our first goal is safety entering and exiting campus.  We are Timberwolves – resilient and work together to make the family proud.

Kicking off October, students will be learning about courage. What does it take to show courage and ways to be courageous as well as thoughtful to those around us.  We are in the middle of STAR testing for our learners and will be for our 4th and 5th grade students be moving into the Smarter Balanced state assessment – we are looking for students to take their time and show what they know. It is not about passing or failing but about growing. These assessments help teachers hone in on what each student needs to meet their learning goals.

Some questions you may have:

How do I enroll my student – it is all online enrollment at this time.  If you have new neighbors who have moved in – remind them to enrollment is online.  Be well – take care of each other.

What will school look like?  We will still be requiring masks by students and staff. At this time, we are not having family members come into the building so we will use the check-in process at the yellow line. Our time for school has changed a little with arrival at 8:15 for breakfast and then learning begins at 8:30 and the end of the day is 3:00. Please make sure Skyward has a correct phone/email address and you have your voice box set up with the number so if you miss the call you still are able to get the information.

What if we are moving?  Call Mrs. Brost at 253-583-5250 and let her know when your students last day learning will occur and we will unenroll – remember to bring back all checked out items including technology.  The school you will be enrolling in can email/fax request for records so that can all be done digitally for the student/family.
